24 Peaks Challenge in support of Seafarers UK
Tuesday 5 July, 2011

For a third year, some of our friends at Associated British Ports are putting themselves through exhaustive training, in order to field a competitive team in the 24 Peaks Challenge, to raise funds for the Seafarers UK, a charity that addresses specific needs of all seafarers and their families, but specifically, the Merchant Navy, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and fishing fleets.
The team of highly trained athletes, honed to the point of perfect fitness for the event are Mark Elliott, Callum Couper, Leigh Perry, and Simon Rowlands, and whilst we note that there are no ‘girls’ in the team, (somebody has to stay behind to cover all their work!), they will be ably supported by Ian Meredith, their support driver.
Their challenge involves walking over 24 peaks, all greater than 2400 feet above sea level, in 24 hours, so we imagine that there will be quite a bit of running involved as well!!
Each team is looking to raise at least £5000, and if you would like to support them, please follow this link www.justgiving.com/ABPsouthwales and help them with any amount you can afford, to meet their target.
We have been promised a photograph of the successful team, which we will post as soon as we have it.
SUPPORT THE BOYS ~ or should it be BUOYS??
